2011 NSCA Nationals

Will had another great tournament at the Nationals. In the Main Event he had the 22nd highest score out of 1302 Entrants. It was an outstanding performance for a 15 year old young man. He dominated the Sub Junior Division winning Sub Jr Champion for the 2nd year in a row and also was Sub Jr Champion in the 20 Gauge Event.

Will won the Bronze Medal in the double trap event at the Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs in the 15 to 18 age group. Quite an accomplishment since he just started shooting Olympic Double Trap a month or so ago and has only shot it a few times. We may have an Olympic Team Member in 2016

Will had a great weekend at the Heat is On Tournament at Backwoods Quail Club last week. He tied Johnny Sutton on 185 and won the shoot off for Tournament HOA. He also came in 2nd in the FITASC Event. All in all a great tournament.
Congratulations to Will for his outstanding performance at the GA State Skeet Championship. Will shot 100 straight in the 12 gauge event and then didn't miss in the shoot off with 2 other former champions. It's hard to beat a man who never misses all day.

Will is 15 years old and a sophomore a Dacula High School. He takes his schoolwork very seriously and has a 3.7 GPA. He was one of only a few students chosen from the state of Georgia to participate in the Student Leadership Program at GA State University this summer. He is also actively involved in student council, the Dacula leadership team, and the FCA. His goal is to earn an academic scholarship to college.

Will started shooting competitively in the Scholastic Clay Target Program in 2008 where his squad won 1st place at the GA State Shoot and won 2nd place at the National Championships in Sparta, IL.

In 2009 Will continued shooting with the SCTP as well as entering 13 National Sporting Clays Association tournaments. He shot several Big Blast events including the Gamaliel Cup, the Zone 4 Championship, and the US Open, which really developed his hunger for competition. Will progressed from D to A Class in 2009 and was Sub Junior Champion in 5 events and he made the NSCA All American Team.

In 2010 Will took his shooting to the next level and punched into Master class at the age of 14 and established himself as one of the top youth shooters in the country making the All American Team for the second time. He shot 25 NSCA tournaments with over 6300 registered targets and was Sub Junior or Junior Champion 19 times, Sub Junior or Junior Runner Up 6 times, and HOA in a couple local tournaments. He shot in all the Southern State Shoots, the Zone 4 Shoot, the US Open, and finished the year off by winning Sub Junior Champion at the National Championships in San Antonio in his first trip there.

So far in 2011 Will has accomplished more than most shooters do in a lifetime. He has continued to be a dominant youth shooter by winning 15 Sub Junior and Junior titles. He has also proven himself to be one the best shooters overall, by regularly finishing in the top 5 at large tournaments and winning HOA at 2 big blasts, beating many of the top shooters in our sport.  Will decided to branch out in the shooting sports this year and was selected to participate in an Olympic Bunker Trap Clinic at Ft Benning with the Army Marksmanship Unit. He enjoyed that so he entered the Junior Olympic State Qualifier and won a Gold medal shooting Olympic Doubles Trap for only the second time. This qualified him for the National Junior Olympics in Colorado Springs where Will won a Bronze Medal in his age bracket and placed 8th overall. In between all his Sporting Clays and Olympic Trap shooting Will entered the GA State Skeet Championship and won the 12 gauge event by shooting 100 straight and then winning the shoot off against 3 established skeet shooters including a former state champion. The year is not over yet and Will plans on winning another NSCA National Championship in October.

Will has some major industry sponsors helping him including Dupont Kreighoff, Pilla Sporting Glasses, and PMS Firearms.
